Service Department Questions

Q. Why should I get a service contract?
When you pay for a service as you go, you never know when a big, expensive bill will come. Customers who need only a tune-up one year can have three or four service calls the next. Having a service plan eliminates these ups and downs and allows you to rest easy. It also increases the likelihood you'll have small problems taken care of before they become big ones.

Q. What about the cost?
Every system should be tuned up once a year. It saves you up to 10 percent on your oil bills, and prevents other problems from developing. Our normal tune-up costs $85, plus parts.

Now consider what happens if your system needs repair. Including labor, a typical burner or blower motor costs over $60. A new circulator or an installed clock thermostat will set you back about $179. Certain valves and aquastats go for more than $235, and if any repairs are done after normal business hours, the labor costs go to time and a half.

Our service Plans cover all this and much more. You never pay for overtime labor no matter when your system breaks down. For less than the price of a daily cup of coffee, you can eliminate worrying about virtually anything that can go wrong with your heating system.

Q. Which contract is the best for me?
That depends on the level of protection your comfortable with. Our Value Plan covers the most common repairs that face oil customers and includes a professional tune-up. Our No Surprises plan goes a step further and handles repairs that are less frequent but extremely costly. If you have a new system under warranty or you have the know-how to service it on your own, you might not need a service contract at all.

Q. Is the service done by your
own people?

Yes. We maintain a full-time staff of highly trained technicians who continually attend courses to stay up-to-date with the latest technology.

Q. Will I be charged for after
hours calls?

No. Our contract customers are entitled to free labor on all parts that are covered under the contract no matter what time the service call is made.

Q. Will I be charged for labor on parts not covered by the service contract?
Yes (although the No Surprises plan covers just about everything).

Q. Are there parts on these service contracts that my system doesn't have. Am I paying for them?
No. You're only paying for the parts you have. For example, a furnace system has a blower that sends hot air through the vents, while a boiler has a circulator that sends hot water through pipes. The price of the contract takes this into account.

Q. Can I break up the contract payments?
You can pay for your plan through our monthly budget plan. We also accept Visa or MasterCard for either plan.

Q. What should I do if I have more than one burner, heating unit or any other special situation?
Call us and we'll design something that works for you.

Q. How often should I have my oil furnace or oil boiler cleaned?
We recommend that you have a complete service and tune up done each year.

Q. Why do I need my oil furnace cleaned each year?
There are several benefits to having the oil appliance serviced each year.
   1. Fuel savings. The ash build up that is removed by the cleaning process will allow more heat to be transferred through the system and into your living area.
   2. Safety. The safety check that is preformed on your system will help insure your families safety.
   3. Preventive maintenance. A well maintained piece of equipment does not break down as much as one that is neglected.

Q. When is the best time to get my furnace cleaned?
Your furnace can be cleaned anytime during the year and remain fresh for the winter heating season.

Q. What about oil tanks?
